The Challenge Rising from the Ashes

08.05.2018 in Bluepharma

Bluepharma joined the Challenge programme, as part of its sustainability policy under the company's Somos Solidários social project

The ‘Challenge’ was developed by three friends with roots from the central region of Portugal, who decided to contribute with their know-how to the rebirth of the local economic activity through a  local startup acceleration programme, created by people who were direct or indirect victims of last year's fateful fire.

Bluepharma joined the Challenge programme, as part of its sustainability policy under the company's Somos Solidários social project, which intends to support the victims of the fires that ravaged Pedrogão Grande, in 2017.

The first phase arrived in October, in the form of knowledge, with the organisation of the conference Rising from the Ashes, which brought to Pedrógão Grande entrepreneurs and managers from this region, well-known nationally and internationally, to inspire and involve local economic agents. It was also attended by Dr. Paulo Barradas Rebelo, Chairman of Bluepharma.

‘Rising from the Ashes’ was very well received by the local community, and helped participants to develop their projects with the support of mentors and training actions in strategic areas.

On 5 May, an open lecture on human resources management, teams and finances took place with Dr. Paulo Barradas Rebelo, Chairman of Bluepharma, Dr. Catarina Xavier, Financial Director of the Bluepharma Group and Dr. Luís Silva, responsible for the Human Resource department of Bluepharma.

In the afternoon, the grand finale of this contest of ideas took place, where all entrepreneurs presented their proposals to the public and to a jury, with the participation of the Chairman of Bluepharma.

The creation of a hotel complex in Figueiró dos Vinhos, using an old winepress, was the idea that won first place in the "Challenge Rising from the Ashes".

The creation of a computer platform for the management of coworking and incubator space (working model based on sharing space and resources) came second place.

The third place was won by a project that aims to facilitate contact of the elderly with their family or with healthcare facilities, making it easy and simple to use a tablet.
