Of the 832 competing companies, 45 finalists were chosen in the different categories: Internationalisation, Exports, Innovation, Microcompanies, Portugal 2020 and Garantia Mútua (Mutual Guarantee). The last two categories were created in 2018 to recognise companies with projects approved under the Portugal 2020 programme and those who made use of the Garantia Mútua to support their internationalisation operations.

The number of applicants was substantially higher than that of the previous edition, which even so was around five hundred. The ceremony, which was held in the capital of the Minho region, was attended by Dr. Nuno Amado, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Millennium bcp, Dr. Daniel Proença de Carvalho, Chairman of the Global Media Group and Dr. Carlos Oliveira, Chairman of InvestBraga – Agency for Economic Promotion of Braga.
